Severance Hospital’s Dermatology Department started its history from establishment of Department of Dermatology at Severance Union Medical College in 1917 for the first time in the country.
Our Dermatology Department has pioneered Korean dermatology, contributing to Severance Hospital’s remarkable history.
We created the nation’s first special clinic for Behcet's disease, which is an intractable inflammatory disease, and introduced the country to our “phototherapy” that we self-developed with a UV treatment machine for treating psoriasis and leukoplakia.
We have also performed Korea’s first chemical peel and are currently using laser procedures for treatment of various skin diseases.
With our experience accumulated over a long time, we are expanding our chemical peel and laser procedures.
Additionally, we are actively performing dermatologic microsurgery, liposuction and transplantation by introducing therapeutic techniques for surgical dermatology.
Severance Hospital’s Dermatology Department is recognized as the nation’s best dermatology department, providing medical care for around 100,000 patients a year.
